De Xoi Xa, Canley Vale
With Walter away for the next few days I've had to dine alone. Tonight, I thought I'd try a new restaurant in Canley Vale called De Xoi Xa. I quite that they've kept the name all in Vietnamese.
It's a Monday night and it's very quiet, although in their defence all the local restaurants are quiet (except the always busy Pizza Hut!).
I ordered shaken beef (bo luc lac) in red rice. The beef is marinated with liberal garlic added, served glistening - a smell that's guaranteed to make you salivate. They offered two types of sauces, a traditional fish sauce, that is sweeter than normal and black soy, it's different you usually get salt and pepper. Both sauces works very well with the beef and rice.
... oh and did I mention the over the top blue/purple light fixture?
