Pho Ga (chicken pho) at Hai Au, Canley Vale

Beef Pho is literally what most people know - but there is a sub-culture of those who like Pho Ga; chicken pho.

I wasn't in this camp until I had it at Hai Au when they were still up the road.  The broth was sweet, the purple onion really does make a difference and, when they were at the old place, we used to get chicken offal too, even boiled egg yoke.

Alas no more at the glam new establishment, while not as good, I still crave it, especially when I'm sick - can't really explain why, but it makes me feel better - and I guess it's easy to eat when you've lost your apetite.

And I do like that you get free tea in Cabramatta... may that practice never end!

  1. Paying for tea is one of my mother's pet hates. lol. The food may be amazing but if she has to pay for tea she is not a happy camper!

  3. Oh dear! I almost wanted to lick the screen! That pho ga looks yummo! On the topic of free tea, it reminded me when I went to this korean restaurant and they charge us for kimchi!

  5. Mmmmm I'm craving pho now.. No one should have to pay for tea. I think there was an outrage when Iron CHef (yumcha place on the other side of Cabra station) were charging for tea
