Longrain Restaurant & Bar, Asian, Surry Hills

It's so hard to fault Longrain, relaxed but attentive service, glorious food and in my book, great value for the quality.

The smoked trout on betel leaf looks deceptively simple, but literally explodes with taste and zest in your mouth. I'd recommend throwing the whole thing in your mouth to get the full flavour.

Caramel pork also a complex beast, crisp but tender pork surrounded by strong flavours, garlic, ginger, mint.  Added pleasure is caramel and chilli on the side which you add to taste.

Easily the best combo of dessert I've had in well, a long, long time.  Generous and extensive, oh and rich too.  Tapioca pudding, passionfruit, mango, caramel... too many wonderful desserts and contrasting tastes... all delicious.

My only regret is not coping with the low lighting.. these photos just do not do the menu justice... this Sydney food blogger could have done better!
