Vietnamese Desserts: Xoi, sticky rice

When it comes to sticky rice, Vietnamese have a thousand and one way to serve it up as a dessert.  This is one form, where the rice is coloured green with la dua (pandan) is dense and thick, in the middle is a layer of yellow soya bean.

Xoi
Let me tell you it's sweet; I think the sesame seeds are meant to cut some of the sweetness, but well, let's just say nothing can cut it.  These blocks are about 5cm long and 2.5cm wide and deep.  Utterly delicious!

Other Vietnamese desserts:

Banh Chuoi - banana cake

Coloured rice cakes

Banh Cam - orange cake
